Terms of use
What you may expect from us and we from you. Short, in plain language, and without surprises. The house rules are part of it.
1. What this covers
These terms apply when you use Ruilmarkt: as a visitor, and as a member. The house rules are part of them; they say how we treat one another. House rules · Privacy and GDPR
2. What this site is, and is not
This is a noticeboard. Members put items on it and agree among themselves what they swap. We bring people together; we are not a party to what you agree.
- We do not inspect the items, do not determine their value and do not vouch for what is swapped.
- The swap value on a listing is a band the member chooses themselves. It is not a valuation and not a price.
- Nothing is sold here. If two members exceptionally agree a small additional payment, that is their own arrangement and we stand outside it.
3. Your account
- You create an account in your own name, and use it yourself. What happens with your login details is your responsibility.
- You are sixteen or older. If you are younger, do it together with a parent or guardian.
- You can close your account yourself at any time, under Account. Your data is then removed; exactly what that means is set out in the privacy statement.
4. What you post
- You only post items that are yours and that you are allowed to give away or swap.
- You describe honestly what it is and what is wrong with it.
- You do not post items that may not be swapped. Which those are is set out in the house rules.
- Your text and your photos remain yours. By posting them you give us permission to show them on this site for as long as your listing is up.
- Do not put other people's details on the site, and no bank details of your own.
5. If something is out of order
Under every listing and in every conversation there is a button to report it. The administrator can remove a listing or block an account if the house rules or these terms are broken. We say why, unless that would hinder an investigation.
6. Availability
We do our best to keep the site running, but we do not promise uninterrupted availability. Maintenance, faults and discontinuation of the service can occur; if we stop, we will say so in good time so you can take your data with you.
7. Liability
We are not liable for damage arising from a swap between members, from the condition of an item, or from the site being temporarily unavailable. That exclusion does not apply to damage caused by intent or deliberate recklessness on our part; nor can that be excluded.
8. Changes, law and complaints
- If these terms change, the new date appears at the bottom of this page. We announce substantial changes on the site.
- These terms are governed by Dutch law.
- If you have a complaint, tell us first through Contact. If we cannot resolve it together, the courts remain open to you. If it concerns your personal data, you can also go to the Dutch Data Protection Authority.
